Vino Licoroso de Misa
Grape Variety
A blend of Malbec, Tempranillo, Bonarda and Lambrusco.
Tasting Notes
Light red colour, aromas of caramel, walnuts in honey, raisins, chocolate, and baking spices, with flavours of dried red fruits and toasted nuts.
Vineyard
Ugarteche, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Planted in 1970 at 900 m.a.s.l.
Winemaking
After crushing, the skins of the grapes stay in contact with the grape juice for 6 hours, providing a dark rosé colour to it. Before the fermentation ends, it is stopped using grape spirit, leaving a little residual sugar in the wine. After this, our Vino Licoroso de Misa Cabrini is aged in large old oak barrels for at least 12 months. The wines are then bottled and stored for a further 12 months before being released.
Other Information
The Cabrini family has been making Vino Licoroso de Misa since 1939. It is authorised by the Archbishopric of Mendoza to use as Altar wine for the Catholic Church and it’s produced following the Vatican guidelines. The Cabrini family started making this wine because of Guillermo Cabrini, 2nd Generation of the family. He was a Salesian priest and proposed this idea to his father, our founder Don Leandro Cabrini.
